Ülkü Onur
(27.08. - 05.09. 2010)

Ülkü Onur, born in Ankara in 1943, lives in Akyaka since twelve years. Wishing to paint since her childhood, she finally started to make pencil drawings after her retirement in 1993. Afterwards she changed to pastel colours advised by her teacher John Robinson.

She participated in the design lectures of the Ankara Painting and Sculpture State Museum in 1994 and continued her studies 1995 at the Ankara Art and Manufacturing Studio where she learned oil painting techniques from Kayhan Keskinok.

After being told by Mr. Abdurrahman Öztoprak "Girl, you started to paint abstracts" in 2005, she really started abstract painting. From then on she consequently turned from working figuratively to abstract techniques. She generally takes nature and natural elements into her hands. According to her painting is a way of life, a struggle to be. She wants to know how far her paintings go. Just like the human being strives to keep alive and to share. The thought that her paintings can express her ideas, feelings and personality makes her happy.
