Hacer Sarıkaya Demirbaş
(13.08. -19.08. 2010)

I have been born on the 13th April 1960 in Malatya. I finished primary, secondary and high school in Izmir where I graduated in 1979 from the Izmir Namık Kemal High School. I had lost my father in 1973, he passed away. My sister started to send funds from Germany, we had no social back up whatsoever.
I started to study at the Economy Faculty of the Aegean University in the Planning Department. After one semester I had to leave for economic reasons and went to live with my sister in Berlin, Germany. I enrolled in the University there, my second language being English, I had to learn German for six months in the Goethe Institute.
Still trying to complete my education I returned to Turkey. I had to repeat my university exams, because I filed no preferences and my points were high I was able to pre- register in various universities. I did achieve the entry rights for one Department for Fine Arts but did not register. Instead I started in the Civil Administration Department of the Economy Faculty of the 9th September University and studied there for one year.
1983 I married and since my husband lived and worked in Istanbul I changed over to the Faculty for Political Science of the Istanbul University, where I stayed for two years. I had a very complicated pregnancy and a problematic birth, a traffic accident left me with the loss of consciousness and memory caused by brain haemorrhage. The university granted me exemption for the loss of time and I finally graduated in 2005.
I have always liked to paint and started in 1993 to pant in oil. Because I did not have the time and no connections to appropriate galleries I did not open many exhibitions.
I had two personal and two group exhibitions.

My son is studying at university.

In September 2009 my book "Yollum"=My Way was published.

I am preparing to publish my second book now and I plan to write further on.
