Friday, 12 June 2004 in connection with our Biyo-Gökova project we took 18 farmers from our project area for an excursion to a well known Ecologic_Farm. The “Degirmen Ciftlik” in Davutlar near Kusadasi is exemplary in production, marketing and public relations. It was our aim to start with an ecological and environmentally sustainable agriculture and to motivate our smallholders here in Gökova.

The excursion was quite instructive; many questions were put and answered competently. In general the present farming engineers were willingly, they  explained even very simple questions of our group. Concerning natural fertilizing which is almost not used any more, informative conversations arose. Some of our farmers were very impressed, so that they wanted immediately to start with the environmental cultivation. The landowner Gürsel Tonbul which has been working in farming for many years found the correct words to impress our people.

We realized that the farming of the future isn't turned towards fast and high yield but towards high-quality products. On the return journey another vivid discussion arose during the small meal that was held until everyone was finally tired and at home, but full of new ideas again.
